About Us:
Vicinity Studio is a creative video production company specialising in telling meaningful stories through corporate, commercial, and documentary work. We’re a team of passionate creatives who believe in making an impact through visuals—and sound plays a huge part in that. We're looking for a friendly, responsible, and technically sound (pun intended) team player to join us as our go-to Sound Recordist.
On-Location & Studio Recording
Manage location sound recording during shoots, ensuring clean dialogue and ambient sound capture.
Handle voice-over recording sessions with clear audio quality and proper gain staging.
Set up, operate, and monitor audio equipment including:
Shure SM7B
Sound Devices field recorders
Sennheiser EW Series (wireless lavs)
Mic up talents professionally, including VIP clients, ensuring minimal fuss and maximum comfort.
Work closely with the production and camera team to maintain audio-video sync and quality standards.
Post-Production Support
Perform basic audio mixing and cleanup of raw recordings.
Assist the post team in audio editing using DaVinci Resolve’s Fairlight system.
Troubleshoot audio inconsistencies, clean up background noise, and balance EQ levels where needed.
Client & Team Collaboration
Be client-facing when required, especially during VO sessions or high-profile shoots.
Ensure audio quality aligns with creative briefs and delivery expectations.
Provide audio advice during pre-production to anticipate sound-related needs on set.
Prior experience as a Sound Recordist or Audio Engineer, preferably in production or content creation environments.
Strong familiarity with:
Shure SM7B
Sound Devices mixers/recorders
Sennheiser EW Series wireless systems
Solid understanding of EQ, gain staging, and live recording environments.
Working knowledge of Fairlight (DaVinci Resolve) or other DAWs for basic post-production audio.
Ability to manage VIP clients and talent professionally.
Good communication skills and a proactive attitude—be a good human and team player.
Bonus: Experience in creating or producing original audio content (e.g. podcasts, branded audio spots).
Interest in sound design or foley.
Experience in podcast production or voice direction.
Familiarity with other software like Adobe Audition or Reaper.
